Seal Dive Trips to Lundy Island

We are expecting to release our 2021 trip dates before Christmas along with a new on-line booking system. If you have an enquiry about a 2021 dive trip or would like to purchase a gift voucher, please call 07833 020424 or email Our dive trips will be operating from end of May to mid October 2021, with a full refund if Covid 19 prevents us operating or you from taking part.
For a bucket-list wildlife adventure, jump on-board a seal encounter dive trip to Lundy Island off the North Devon coast. Shallow and sheltered dive sites are suitable for novice and experienced divers. We offer guided diving and full equipment hire. See below for prices, trip dates and availability.
Our Lundy dive trips are perfect for a close encounter with the Grey Seals and the chance to spot Dolphins and Porpoise on the journey to and from the Island. You may even see Sunfish and Basking Sharks during the summer months. We are the only operator to offer professional dive guides for your peace of mind and safety in the water, plus the option of full or partial equipment hire if required.
Resident year-round the Grey Seals are inquisitive and playful and often choose to interact with divers. Whilst an encounter can never be guaranteed, we are yet to be disappointed! Pups are born between September and November, so later season trips can be a great time to go. Our Skippers are Lundy experts and know the best places to dive with the Seals and the seal sites are shallow (max depth 8-9m) and sheltered so suitable for all experience levels. If you are a diver and this isn’t on your bucket-list, it should be!
Lundy is a Marine Conservation Zone and ‘No Take’ zone so is a protected area and home to an aquarium’s worth of other stunning marine life. Have fun spotting the residents as you swim through atmospheric kelp forests and canyons.
Depending on the time of year, you are likely to see Spider Crabs (July & August), Ballan Wrasse, Blennies, Gobies, plus Comb Jellies with their distinctive light display and Moon, Compass and Purple Jellyfish (June/early July).
Lundy is also the most northerly home of cold water coral including the Pink Sea Fan and 5 species of Cup Coral.

 Dive Boats

Our trips take place on-board Lundy Diving’s Obsession or Hi Ho Charter’s Shelly N. Both boats are designed with divers in mind. Obsession makes the crossing to Lundy in around 1 hour 15 minutes and Shelly N in around 1 hour 45 minutes, journey times vary depending on wind conditions and the tides. Tanks are tied down securely during the crossing and there’s space to stow kit directly under the benches.
A side door offers the perfect spot for a giant stride entry, and there’s a purpose built lift at the Stern to help you out of the water at the end of the dive. The Skipper and dive staff are first aid trained and there is O² and trained administrators on-board.

Lundy Diver Testimonial

“ I had an amazing day with Easy Divers- a smooth and fast ride over to Lundy, great kit, amazing to be in with the seals, in with these huge wild animals in their own home.
They were as fascinated with us as we were with them. Beautiful black, grey, and white seals with huge black eyes, very playful, swimming up to us".
Can't recommend this trip enough, a bucket list item! Great company, luxury boat, even got a beer on the boat home. Thanks Simon and Cath for a mind blowing day”.
Lotte Lindenbaum, 19th July 2017.

The Lundy crossing can be rough even on a good day, so this trip is not suitable for people who suffer from sea sickness
The trip may be cancelled due to dangerous sea conditions in which case a full refund will be paid, but otherwise the trip will take place in all weathers
Due to Covid 19 precautions, customers will not be able to seek shelter in the boat Wheelhouse during trips, so if rain is forecast you are advised to bring waterproof clothing
We try whenever possible to give a minimum of 48 hours notice of cancellation, so please check guest house cancellation/refund policy when booking your accommodation
We observe the Lundy Seals Code of Conduct and expect our customers to do the same or they will need to return to the boat (this will be covered in the dive briefing)
If you have not dived in the last 6 months, a minimum of a pool refresher session is compulsory (exceptions will be made for divers with evidence of more than 40 logged dives)
If you are joining us on a guided trip and wish to dive independently in a buddy pair, then please let us know. We will need to see evidence of your dive experience before we agree to your request
If the dive staff are concerned about your safety in the water, we reserve the right to ask you to return to the boat at any time during the dives and you will not receive a refund
If the main guided dive party is delayed by more than 10 minutes due to an issue you are experiencing, the Dive Supervisor will make every effort to help you, but after 10 minutes will surface with you and send you back to the boat.
