About Our Lundy Seal Encounter Dive Trips

2 guided dives with a maximum of 10 divers led by 2 experienced dive guides with the knowledge to offer you the best chance of Seal interaction - as well as safe diving. Full or part equipment hire if you need it and an all day boat trip on a comfortable Catamaran with toilet and dive lift, provided by Ilfracombe's top dive boat charter. Bring your own food and drinks - complimentary hot drinks and chocolate bars are provided between dives.
The trip takes approximately 8 hours and the start and finish times vary according to the tides, but you need to be ready for a start as early as 7am if you are hiring dive equipment, with a latest finish time of approximately 6.30pm - precise times will be confirmed 2 days prior to your trip. After issuing equipment, we load onto the boat in Ilfracombe harbour for the 1.5 hour crossing to Lundy Island. During the crossing look out for porpoise as we leave the harbour and Dolphins in the channel, both species are often spotted from the boat. We might even see Sun Fish, Minke Whales or Basking Sharks during the Summer months. There is a wealth of sea bird-life at Lundy Island and May/June divers are in with a chance of spotting Puffins during the surface interval.
Whilst the Seals are the stars of the show, Lundy Island is situated in a Marine Conservation 'no take' Zone and you can expect to enjoy pristine Kelp forests and a good chance of Lobster, Spider Crab (in July/August), colourful Cuckoo Wrasse and Jellyfish (Late June/July) sightings. You may also encounter Octopus, Conger Eels, Dog Fish and Nudibranchs.
Full equipment hire package includes a full 5mm wetsuit, a 5mm shorty, hood and gloves as well as everything else you need to dive. We do not hire drysuits due to the individual fit and find our double wetsuit combo works well at the shallow Seal dive sites during the Summer months.

Before you book

Please take a moment to read our trip terms and conditions and FAQs BEFORE you book your dive trip. It is essential that you check the PADI Diving Medical Form to confirm that you don't require a doctor's sign-off before booking a dive trip. Your health may have changed since you learnt to dive or completed your last dives and for your own safety and the safety of other divers, it is essential that you consult a doctor if you need to answer yes to any of the questions on page 1.
Please carefully check our terms and conditions to see if you require a pool refresher session before you book. We offer pool refresher sessions the afternoon prior to our dive trips. If this is your first cold water dive, we recommend a pool refresher session close to your trip date regardless of your experience level.
