TRY DIVE & SNORKEL TRIPS WITH  LUNDY SEALS!   For an unforgettable experience, book onto one of our unique Lundy Seal encounter try dive and snorkel trips. These trips are suitable for complete beginners with no diving qualification or previous experience necessary. You just need to be able to swim 25m unaided in water too deep to stand in (subject to medical form, see below) and be comfortable in the sea.

TRY DIVE & SNORKEL WITH  LUNDY SEALS

Come on a PADI Discover Scuba Dive or snorkel trip with the Grey Seals of Lundy! The Seal dive sites at Lundy are shallow and sheltered so great for beginner divers and snorkellers!

Once we get to the island, we give you a safety briefing and kit you up in a group of 4 divers and then it’s into the water with 2 professional dive staff to hold onto a line and experience the thrill of breathing underwater. Firstly we take you down to practice a few dive safety skills and then head off to look for the Seals! After a surface interval, you will get the chance to do a second try dive.

We also have space on the boat for snorkellers or qualified divers with sufficient experience to dive without a dive guide (see terms and conditions at the bottom of the page). For prices, see below and for dates and availability see opposite.

Private bookings/alternative dates available on request.

Before booking, please read our trip terms and conditions and PADI Medical Form at the bottom of the page. If you need to answer yes to any of the questions, you need to print out the whole form and take it to a doctor to sign you off as fit to dive. Please do this before booking with us.

Discover Scuba Try Dive With Lundy Seals Terms & Conditions

All try diving/snorkelling participants are 12+ and can swim 25 metres unaided in water too deep to stand in

Unguided divers booking boat spaces need to evidence a minimum of PADI Open water certificate or equivalent and 20+ dives including a recent UK sea dive (within the last 12 months)

The Lundy crossing can be rough even on a good day, so this trip is not suitable for people who suffer from sea sickness

The trip may be cancelled due to dangerous sea conditions, in which case you will receive a full refund. We aim to give a minimum of 48 hours notice, so please consider this when booking accomodation

We observe the Lundy Seals Code of Conduct and expect our customers to do the same or they will need to return to the boat (this will be covered in the dive briefing)

Seals are wild animals and as such encounters (whilst highly likely) cannot be guaranteed

If the dive staff are concerned about your safety in the water, we reserve the right to ask you to return to the boat at any time during the dives/snorkelling and you will not receive a refund

We have allowed a reasonable amount of time to complete the dive skills before taking you on your try dive. If you are not comfortable under the water or completing the dive skills you will need to return to the boat and you will not receive a refund

No diver/snorkeller/boat passenger will be able to take part without signing liability waivers

You have completed a diving medical form and can answer no to all of the questions, or if you need to answer yes, you have secured sign off from a doctor (doctor completes page 2 of the form) before you make your booking

If you need to cancel, we can only offer you a refund if we can fill the space. It is very likely that we can fill the space, but just so you are aware!

A 50% deposit is payable at the time of booking and the balance of payment is due one calendar month prior to departure. If we do not receive payment by then we reserve the right to offer your place to another customer

The trip is for over 18s only unless accompanied by a parent/guardian (NB parent/guardian does not have to dive) in which case children aged 12+ are able to participate

Our hire equipment is in standard small, medium, large and extra large sizes. If you think you may require non-standard sized equipment then please discuss this with us before you book your trip. We want to make sure that everyone is catered for where possible

We offer 5mm full wetsuits with a 5mm shorty over the top, so a core warmth of 10mm, plus hood and gloves which is sufficient for UK waters in the summer season. Dry Suits are not available to hire but you are welcome to use your own if you wish as long as you have completed and logged a recognised Dry Suit orientation course and a recent sea dive or have 20+ logged dry suits sea dives including one within the last year
